I’m not big fan of selective coloring…but this asked for it.
So this begins a new weekly theme…Bokeh…

It’s hard to take pics of small objects with the polaroid…you have to have at least 3.5 feet between it and the camera…and I always judge the actual photo area wrong with this thing…but I like happy accidents anyway.

So I ended up doing my monthly Seattle trip on accident really. I totally forgot about the whole idea. I have definitely taken on a lot of things I want to do photographically speaking. And sometimes I forget stuff even with everything on my calendar and plans and themes. But it’s all good. The accidental trip to Seattle this month took me to Cheasty Greenspace. And I wouldn’t have even thought about my Seattle trip at all if my sis Keli hadn’t brought it up! I might need a better system of organizing and remembering!
We went over on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It was part of a weekend long project of service. So we took all the boys over, Hayden, Forest, Corbin, Ethan and Seth to help pull out invasive plants around the park. My boys were less than thrilled at the idea of spending their “day off” doing manual labor. But I think for the most part they had a good time!
I had the most fun doing a bucket brigade style mulch line…despite some complainers. And listening to the girls around me sing songs to get us motivated was lots of fun too! Corbin and Seth seemed to like shoveling mulch into buckets and wandering around the most fun! Hayden and Ethan were going for a record of who could carry the most empty buckets back to the mulch pile!
In the end our leader said they accomplished all their goals for our group’s area. And was very happy with all the hard work everyone put in!
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ~ Days of Service. And information booth about his life and accomplishments.

Tools of the trade! Lots and lots of buckets!

Gathering…there were around 300+ volunteers signed up for this day.

Some of the Volunteers from EarthCorps and City Year.

Our fearless leaders Yolonda and A.J. (Thank you Keli)

Hayden getting right to work!

Seth clearing space around newly planted trees.

Lunch…

Uprooted blackberry vines are good for jumping rope?! As long as you don’t get hit!

Destiny, Yolonda and Savannah showing us a couple routines.

Muddy boots…

I missed this shot just barely! As soon as I had it in focus the guy taking their picture yells “Everybody turn around this way!” Yeah so the sun can be in your eyes! lol…

Half of the mulch brigade…

Such cute little helpers!

This little girl was so adorable! And a very hard worker as well!

Ethan and Hayden were competing to see how many buckets they could carry at once!

I believe the record was 16 or 17!

They didn’t want them stacked because they get stuck together and it’s such a pain to get them apart!
I know this is a bad pic…but it was his biggest load and I was really irritating the lady next to me when I stepped out to take a couple snaps real fast…

Seth on the diminishing mulch pile…it started out pretty big!

Corbin taking a water break…I didn’t see much of him the whole day. I hope he was keeping busy!

The mulch brigade went from a little ways behind me all the way down to those people and and then down the slope behind them to the trees below. Pretty impressive!

All hands in! A final cheer for all the great team work!

These girls loved their dances!

Yolonda and Destiny…the girl in the tie dye shirt above…kept trying to keep everyone’s energy and spirits up with cheers and songs! They made it a lot of fun!

Day 28…Lots and lots of decorative edges! My scissors have been put away for a long time! The kids think they are the coolest thing ever! Especially the KidZors!

Day 27…Busy day yesterday and my emory card went all wonky and deleted itself and died on me so have a tulip!

Day 26…Pretty pansies…when I saw they had been replanted earlier in the winter I thought…Why are they planting flowers this time of year?! Well…because normally it is mild enough for them to live all winter long! Something I am not used to seeing at all!

Not done pressing obviously but I had to get a shot of it. One of my daughter’s birthday flowers! I love it!

I better stop putting my pics off till the end of the day! When the themes I have planned for later weeks come I won’t be able to take minute shots!

A couple years ago a good friend of mine gave me a Matryoshka set. The kids have loved it but I won’t let them play with it. They played with it a little this weekend and it’s already looking a little beat up.

So I went out shopping the other day and came across this set! When I got it home it was really hard to open and hard to close so I was kind of bummed! Til I realized I could sand it and that fixed! The girls love it!

My sister noticed on the bottom of my daughter’s set that it was made in the USSR in 1980. Very cool!

And the bottom of mine just for comparison…

Ashlyn opened her wrapped present yesterday so the page is back in the book…sorta…
I like it a lot!
